Interim managers come with a wealth of experience, knowledge and usually a proven track record. Turnaround will be quick and the results dramatic but they are not miracle workers. An interim manager can only work within the existing structure and while they will make a dramatic and positive transformation to any business, it might not always be the change for which the client hopes.
Address immediate problems

This can help buy a little more time to address the larger issues harming the company.
Create a plan
Once the interim manager has completed the detailed analysis and diagnosed all of the problems, it is time to move onto the proposal stage. This will be the culmination of the entire diagnosis process and will result in a document featuring a detailed step by step plan to take the company from a transitional period to a sustainable future.
This is just the first step in the interim management process and often rectifying the problems can be more challenging than identifying them, but with a clear plan in place, and an experienced manager leading the process, these difficult steps can begin a long journey towards success.
